The main crop is <strong>potatoes<\/strong>, with the majority produced for export. Other vegetables are also grown and, to a lesser extent, <strong>rice<\/strong>, a very important ingredient in traditional local cooking.<\/p>\n<p>In the centre of the town stands the parish church of Sant Antoni Abat and you can also visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sapobla.cat\/ca\/museu-de-sant-antoni-i-el-dimoni\">Museu Can Planes<\/a>, a 19th century house that hosts temporary exhibitions of <strong>contemporary art <\/strong>and is home to a <strong>permanent exhibition<\/strong> on the feast of the patron <strong>saint, Sant Antoni<\/strong>, which is the most important holiday in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitsapobla.com\/en\/home-en\/\">sa Pobla<\/a>. The exhibition brings together all the traditional elements of the holiday, such as dimonis, caparrots and gegants (<strong>devils<\/strong>, <strong>big heads<\/strong> and <strong>giants<\/strong>), who take to the streets only during the celebrations on 16 and 17 January.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>Sunday <\/strong>mornings, a busy weekly <strong>market<\/strong> is held in the Pla\u00e7a Major, where you can buy fruit, vegetables, agricultural tools and equipment, etc. In and around the square, there are lots of cafes and bars that serve one of the sa Pobla <strong>specialities<\/strong>, the <strong>variat<\/strong>, which is a combination of different dishes in small portions. For the festival of Sant Antoni, people prepare <strong>espinagades<\/strong>: a sort of pie filled with eel and spinach (the most traditional) or pork loin with cabbage.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>food festivals<\/strong> are also an excellent opportunity to sample local specialities. Two of these are the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mallorca.es\/en\/-\/fira-nocturna-de-la-patata?classNameId=27801&amp;classPK=164650\">Fira Nocturna de la Patata<\/a> (Night Potato Festival) in June and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mallorca.es\/en\/-\/fira-de-l-arr-c3-b2s-pobler-i-sa-marjal?classNameId=27801&amp;classPK=73758\">Fira de l'Arr\u00f2s Pobler<\/a> (Rice Festival) in November.<\/p>\n<p>Another major event is the <strong>international<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/sapobla.cat\/es\/node\/13724\">Mallorca Jazz<\/a> Sa Pobla <strong>festival<\/strong>, which has been held in August since 1995. It is a well-established musical event, presenting a very comprehensive programme of concerts featuring internationally renowned artists and bands.<\/p>\n<p>As far as nature is concerned, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mallorca.es\/en\/-\/parque-natural-de-s-albufera-de-mallorca\">s'Albufera de Mallorca Nature Park<\/a> is a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers. It is the largest wetland in Majorca, protected since 1988, and has a Visitor Centre, bird hides and marked trails for exploring the natural area.<\/p>","cta":"","2_columnas":false,"color_de_fondo":""}]},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
