Las dos elevaciones del municipio lo caracterizan: el monte de Alar\u00f3 (825 m) \u2014tambi\u00e9n denominado castillo de Alar\u00f3\u2014 y el monte de s'Alcadena (817 m). Destaca por tener una <strong>gran historia<\/strong> que se remonta a\u00a0la \u00e9poca talay\u00f3tica. La fortaleza del <a href=\"https:\/\/visit.ajalaro.net\/castell\">castillo <\/a>sale en\u00a0la cr\u00f3nica del ge\u00f3grafo e historiador al-Zuhri (s. XII) donde\u00a0describe la resistencia de los bizantinos a los musulmanes en el a\u00f1o 903 y los denominaba Hisn Alarum: \u00ablos viejos cristianos del castillo\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Alar\u00f3 es <strong>pueblo <\/strong>de <strong>pioneros<\/strong>, ya que a finales del siglo XIX el municipio empez\u00f3 un proceso de industrializaci\u00f3n y de innovaci\u00f3n. La gente de Alar\u00f3 fue pionera del proceso manufacturero, al que\u00a0se a\u00f1ade el esp\u00edritu emprendedor. Estas circunstancias le llev\u00f3\u00a0a ser el primer pueblo de Mallorca con luz el\u00e9ctrica, el\u00a0que mont\u00f3 la primera sala de cinematograf\u00eda de la isla y, m\u00e1s recientemente, el precursor de las televisiones locales.<\/p>\n<p>Su proximidad a la <a href=\"https:\/\/serradetramuntana.net\/es\/\">sierra de Tramuntana<\/a> hace que muchos excursionistas y ciclistas escojan el pueblo de Alar\u00f3 para disfrutar de la naturaleza ya que se pueden iniciar un <strong>gran<\/strong> <strong>n\u00famero <\/strong>de <a href=\"https:\/\/visit.ajalaro.net\/passeja\">excursiones<\/a> y rutas ciclotur\u00edstiques.<\/p>\n<p>Destaca, por ejemplo, la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mallorca.es\/es\/-\/la-cala-de-de-1?classNameId=27801&amp;classPK=168161\">subida al castillo<\/a>, como una excursi\u00f3n de las m\u00e1s espectaculares de esta zona monta\u00f1osa. Est\u00e1 integrada en los grupo de <strong>caminos <\/strong>de <strong>piedra en seco<\/strong> rehabilitados y se\u00f1alizados del Consell\u00a0de Mallorca, concretamente es la <a href=\"https:\/\/caminsdepedra.conselldemallorca.cat\/es\/\">ruta GR-221<\/a>. En la cima\u00a0encontramos las murallas del antiguo fort\u00edn militar donde destaca la <strong>torre del homenaje<\/strong> \u00a0que se tiene que atravesar para acceder al interior de la fortificaci\u00f3n. Traspasada la muralla, quedan varias vueltas\u00a0del camino que conducen al <strong>oratorio <\/strong>y la hospeder\u00eda, que est\u00e1n en una explanada amplia, desde donde se puede disfrutar de una perspectiva panor\u00e1mica de toda Mallorca. El resto de edificaciones est\u00e1n dedicadas a\u00a0la <a href=\"https:\/\/caminsdepedra.conselldemallorca.cat\/es\/-\/hospeder%C3%ADa-del-castillo-de-alar%C3%B3\">hospeder\u00eda<\/a>, y es el \u00fanico <strong>castillo roquero<\/strong> de Mallorca donde se puede <strong>pernoctar<\/strong>. Est\u00e1 abierto\u00a0todo el a\u00f1o y se ha hecho una reforma integral que ha dotado toda la instalaci\u00f3n con calefacci\u00f3n, una cafeter\u00eda y un restaurante; se pueden alojar hasta 30 personas.<\/p>\n<p>Alar\u00f3 se viste de <a href=\"https:\/\/visit.ajalaro.net\/festes\">fiesta <\/a>dos veces: la primera por <strong>San Pedro<\/strong>, el 29 de junio, patr\u00f3n de Los Damunt, y, la segunda, las <strong>fiestas patronales<\/strong> que se celebran la semana que precede el 16 de agosto, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mallorca.es\/es\/-\/fiestas-de-sant-roc?classNameId=27801&amp;classPK=74042\">San\u00a0Roque<\/a>, con diferentes actividades culturales y l\u00fadicas de las cuales destacamos el tradicional baile de los Cossiers que s\u00f3lo bailan este d\u00eda y por la Virgen de Mayo (\u00faltimo s\u00e1bado de mayo). El primer baile se hace por la ma\u00f1ana delante del Ayuntamiento, antes de empezar un recorrido por las calles del pueblo siguiendo a los m\u00fasicos al toque del flaut\u00edn y el tamboril. Al atardecer, durante la celebraci\u00f3n de la misa en honor al patr\u00f3n, bailan el baile de la Oferta dentro de la iglesia, excepto el demonio, que se\u00a0queda fuera.<\/p>\n<p>El <a href=\"https:\/\/www.illesbalears.travel\/es\/mallorca\/el-rito-convertido-en-danza-el-ball-dels-cossiers\">baile de los Cossiers<\/a> fue reconocido como <strong>Fiesta<\/strong> de <strong>Inter\u00e9s Cultural<\/strong> en octubre del 2015 por\u00a0el Pleno del Consell\u00a0de Mallorca y de acuerdo con la Ley de cultura popular y tradicional. Son seis bailarines m\u00e1s el demonio y la dama. Los bailes que hacen escenifican la <strong>batalla <\/strong>entre el <strong>bien <\/strong>y el <strong>mal <\/strong>hasta que el demonio es derrotado.<\/p>\n<p>Otra actividad cultural reconocida por toda la isla son <strong>Las ma\u00f1anas del \u00f3rgano<\/strong>, un ciclo de conciertos que se lleva a cabo con el \u00f3rgano de Grenzing\/Bosch (restaurado el a\u00f1o 2006) de la iglesia de Sant Bartomeu por la ma\u00f1ana\u00a0todos los <strong>s\u00e1bados <\/strong>del a\u00f1o, coincidiendo con el mercado semanal. Est\u00e1n organizados por la asociaci\u00f3n Al Rum y la <strong>entrada <\/strong>es <strong>gratuita<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Alar\u00f3 es un pueblo con una gran oferta de restauraci\u00f3n y hosteler\u00eda, con peque\u00f1os <strong>hoteles rurales<\/strong>, fincas con <strong>agroturismos<\/strong>, para alojarse o para alquilar para celebraciones, viviendas de estancias tur\u00edsticas, bares, cafeter\u00edas, bodegas y restaurantes con una gran variedad de oferta gastron\u00f3mica.
